Some other designs I have been working on. They'll seem a little out of context since there is no text I can put with them right now. So make of them what you will!

Vintage Color Comp
Working on a couple freelance illustrations for an literary magazine to be out in the fall, I was asked to create a vintage-y ad for the magazine, to almost poke fun at it, pretending like it has been around for a while. Ali was nice enough to pose for me, with a cheesy pose and smile, to really mimic good ol' advertisements.
Here is such an ad, and also a drawing of an element I want to incorporate in the ad as well. If you know anything about dogs, there is one called a Cavalier King Charles, which will work perfectly for my concept. It'll make more sense once I finish it. To be posted...

I Saw a Macaw
Well, not really. It's been a while since I've posted but I think I'm back in the mode now. Actually, after hearing about a new movie in the makings I was inspired to have my own concepts and doodles collected that hypothetically could apply. So more of my posts will be related to this here bird. I found it very hard today to figure out how to give a bird character without losing the key things that make it the kind of bird it is. Hmmm. I then thought to reference Iago (Gilbert Godfrey?) from "Aladdin" and the Rooster (Mel Gibson?) from "Rock-a-Doodle," both childhood favorite animations. So hopefully my second time around, and third and fourth, will be more successful. Don't get me wrong, I like some of these little guys. I am amped to do some environments, too. Yeah sketch-a-day!

A little more work on it..
To answer some questions:
- This is Photoshop, using dry brushes to imply some texture. I don't like when digital stuff "looks digital." I mean, there are times when it's appropriate, but anyway...
- There is a possibility of developing a story based on this character, but no plots yet.
- This is still not finished, because I want it to be really crisp, with improved value, and an obvious intention of having it be decorative first and foremost.

New Quiche Concept
This is one of my characters, Quiche, as you may recognize from my profile picture. I want to think up a bunch of scenarios she will be a part of, and this one is the start. Kind of Thumbelina inspired--yes-- but I think to carry on with this she could become larger than life, too. I'm not limiting myself to what her story becomes.

Colored pencil. Fail.

No. 3, No. 4, No. 5
So my problem is not sketching daily, only taking the few minutes to scan and upload my drawings. This is me catching up with that. And I have yet to doodle today... but I'll post that as soon as I do it.
I think colored pencil is my medium of choice right now. Simultaneously considering color and design -- which is what I really want to be doing overall, for the rest of my life, forever and ever.
"Draper's Good Eye"
"Nice Kitty"
"Dude Where's My Iron"

Sketch No. 1 - "Now What?"
So my first of many to come. This one is a sort of extension to an illustration I'm finishing up right now. A bug steals a cherry, but here it realizes it doesn't know what to do with it. I guess a lot of my sketches won't really make sense, but at least it's clearing some of the fuzz out of my brain! I think I may be the little bug, kind of intimidated by this whole posting daily thing, but I have to do it now that I've started. Yes.
